Moore Equine has a full-time Internal Medicine service to provide expert care for your horse. Dr. Gillian Haanen works full-time at the hospital (North Clinic) and is currently residency trained in Large Animal Internal Medicine. The service is also supported by two UCVM board-certified internal medicine specialists, Dr. Renaud Leguillette and Dr. Ashley Whitehead.

Together with our team of interns and veterinary technicians we take care of our most critical patients in a hospital setting. With extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and veterinary internal medicine as well as specialized equipment, our team is uniquely qualified to diagnose and manage a wide variety of medical problems.

• Infectious, allergic, and cancerous diseases

• Respiratory problems (upper respiratory tract and lung), poor performance 

• Gastrointestinal disorders (colic, diarrhea, gastric ulcers)

• Neurological and muscular disorders

• Heart and circulation disorders

• Hormone and blood disorders

• Liver, kidney and bladder disorders

• Health problems of geriatric patients

• Skin diseases 

• Diseases of the neonate (foals)

The internal medicine service is an integral part of our Moore Equine team, focused on diagnosing and treating the most difficult medical conditions and caring for our critical care patients.

Horses can be seen on a primary basis by our Internal Medicine team or can be referred by other veterinarians.
